Hi there! I’m Amy and I’m a Digital Marketer Apprentice at Balls2 Marketing, a small Marketing Agency based in the heart of Derbyshire. I’ve only been here for two short but wonderful months and I’m really looking forward to what’s to come!

In 2016, I started out as a Graphic Design Apprentice and soon became a Junior Graphic Designer for a small print company based in Melbourne. From there, I got a job as a Graphic Designer for another small print company in Belper, where I stayed for almost 2 years. This year I decided to take a leap and move into a different direction of my career, this is when I discovered Digital Marketing. I was interested in Digital Marketing because it goes hand-in-hand with design and I wanted to stick within a similar industry so I could still put everything I learned over the past 4 years to good use. I’m extremely lucky that within my new Digital Marketer role I’ve been given a wide variety of design work which means I can still be creative and make use of all my design knowledge as well as learning all kinds of new skills within marketing.

I’ve had the most wonderful experience so far during my apprenticeship with GBS Apprenticeships and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to work with some really lovely and supportive people. Every day is a completely new day -you never get the same day twice. I love the variety of work I’m given as I’m constantly learning something new and there’s never a dull moment as there’s always something to be done.

My virtual classroom sessions with GBS Apprenticeship so far have been informative, and my tutor Anna makes you feel really comfortable and welcome (even if it’s over Zoom)! I have learnt a massive amount already in this short space of time from attending sessions, using online resources provided by Anna and also from my employer. I’ve got a long way to go until the end, but I have no doubt that I have an incredibly supportive team and tutor behind me. The team at GBS have been nothing but lovely to me and they’ve gone out of their way to make sure that I’m happy with what I’m doing.

After my apprenticeship I am hoping to work my way up the ladder to Junior Account Manager. It’s a scary thought right now but I’m determined to be the best I possibly can be. This is my second apprenticeship, and I couldn’t recommend GBS and apprenticeships anymore, they’re definitely the best way to get your foot in the door, with a career path you’re wanting to head down. Apprenticeships provide you with an experience that University couldn’t offer you, you get your end result a lot quicker as well as gaining all the experience you need to go with it.

Thanks, Amy.
